About Jan Švankmajer
Jan Švankmajer, born in Prague in 1934, is a Czech surrealist artist best known for his stop-motion animations. Some films include "Otesánek" (2000), "Faust" (1994), "Alice" (1987), and "Moznosti dialogu" (1982); he also produces paintings, collages, drawings, etchings, and sculptures. His late wife Eva Švankmajerová, with whom he sometimes collaborated, was also a respected artist.
