About State Violence Against Civilians

This Flickr Group has been established to document and publish photographs of acts of State Violence Against Civilians. The term "State Violence against Civilians" in the group's definition describes the use of physical force against civilians and non combat groups by the state and its executive institutions. These executive institutions are i.e. (military-)police, (para-)military incl. state-loyal militias, private-security agencies, which are hired by state institutions etc. The key criteria of those executive institutions whatsoever is their loyalty to the state or parts of the governing authorities of the state.

Aware of the fact that there are many forms of state violence, such as structural force against individuals or organizations within the civil society, this group intends to focus on directly illustratable state force and tries to give the victims of such inappropriate use of violence a face.
