About London borough of Sutton
Sutton, hardly the most salubrious place on the planet, famed for nothing (other than Sir Harry Secombe came from here) and generally recognised to be where South London ends and Surrey begins.
The borough was formed in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Sutton and Cheam with the Municipal Borough of Beddington and Carshalton Urban District which had previously been part of Surrey.
