About Surfing : : Essence & Inspiration
This group is a curated collection of photographs. Only individually invited photographs please.
The collection attempts to express the beauty and soul of surfing and the ocean through artistic vision (and often photographic luck!)
We seek photos that...
- Say something interesting about the surf traveler's challenge or joy while in the pursuit.
- Impart feeling of what it might be like to be in or near the water.
- Capture and transmit the essence of a wave's engergy and personality.
- Summarize why we are drawn to interact with the ocean.
We are less interested in...
- Trite surf photos no matter how well executed technically.
- Huge waves for the sake of huge waves.
- Capturing the sport at its highest athletic level. However, action shots are fine as long as they meet the other criteria.
The collection is much more Thicker than Water and much less Blue Horizon. But, if Blue Horizon were the only surf movie ever made, it would be more about Rasta than A.I. since our focus is the search not performance.
