Original description: This is the place for your vintage photos of British summers past; beach and street photography pre-1985, both your own snaps and those taken by professional beach and street photographers.

This Flickr group compliments the Sunny Snaps exhibition at the National Media Museum from 20 June to 31 August 2008 and thumbnail pictures from this group may appear on the National Media Museum website for a short time.

Portrait photographers were once a common sight wherever people gathered for leisure or pleasure. Usually ignored and frequently reviled, these itinerant photographers became a figure of ridicule and contempt. Despite their prolific output, they have been largely written-out of the history of photography. This exhibition redresses the balance and celebrates the work of these forgotten photographers.
