About Subte de Buenos Aires
El Subte de Buenos Aires (de subterráneo), es un sistema de transporte público que recorre la ciudad de Buenos Aires. La primera estación de esta red de trenes subterráneos se inauguró en 1913, siendo el primero en su tipo en Iberoamérica y todo el Hemisferio Sur. La red se extendió rápidamente durante las primeras décadas del siglo, pero el ritmo de ampliación disminuyó drásticamente tras los años que siguieron a la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Hacia fines de la década de 1990 se comenzó un nuevo proceso de expansión de la red, con el planeamiento de cuatro nuevas líneas.
The Buenos Aires Metro (locally known as el subte, from "subterráneo") is a mass-transit network that serves the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The system is currently managed by the private transit company Metrovías. With its first station inaugurated in 1913, this is the oldest metro system in Latin America, the Southern Hemisphere, and the entire Spanish-speaking world. It grew rapidly in the early years of the century, but work on extending the network did, however, stagnate in the years following World War II.
