It's time.

The year is 2104. Humanity has migrated to the ocean floor in an attempt to escape the life-threatening conditions on the surface, caused by the impact of the asteroid Apophis II.

A network of giant geodesic dome cities known as "subcities" has been erected on the ocean floor, and humans have adapted as best they can to life below the surface. Corporations, both private and military, have risen to provide the technology necessary to carry on, and in the face of adversity, major technological advances have made it such that anyone can traverse the ocean floor, provided that they have the money or the connections to acquire a vehicle to do so.

Organizations have formed to protect the populace of the subcities, but behind the sterile faces of their gleaming towers, corruption runs rampant. Organized bands of pirates, privateers, and even the very organizations who have pledged to uphold justice, are involved in dealing weaponry and the trade of rationed goods and illegal materials. Pirates conduct raids, terrorists plot destruction, and in the obscurity of the ocean depths, other beings carry out their own agenda, behind the backs of all but the most seasoned submariners—the few who have lived to tell of their encounters.

The bulk of humanity has lost contact with the surface all together, but it is rumored that, despite the danger, not everyone was eager to migrate to the seas. Some have decided to continue the pursuit of an existence on the surface, their ingenuity their strongest weapon against the biting cold, darkness, radiation, and other dangers yet to be discovered.


SubApoc is an open theme, I consider the backstory I have created as nothing more than a guideline, since I created SubApoc simply to be a creative playground for Lego inspiration. Build as your imagination desires. All I ask is that photos be tagged "subapoc" and, if you wish, added to this group. :)
