eBay Triggers - 2 for 1!!!

view profile

Okay, so I "acquired" some old flashes from work (rescued them from certain dumpster-hood). I use the standard eBay trigger with two receivers (could go up to 4). Since I have much more than two flashes now, I was wishing I had more receivers... then it struck me... each receiver has two contact points - 1 hotshoe, 1 PC... with a bit of creative linking, I was able to fire a total of 4 flashes with my two receivers! Neat, huh? Anybody else done this? Am I a genius for figuring this out, or a moron because I hadn't thought of it before? (I'm sure I'll get lots of votes on one side of that question). I would love to hear thoughts.

Chris

Very nice! I do this with my PW's all the time and it is great. One thing to keep in mind is the voltage of the two flashes connected to one receiver. If they differ greatly you might run into some problems. Somewhere in the threads this has been discussed but I can't seem to find it.

Yeah, I did find that one of the flashes, some old no-name thing, would fire the other flash continually if it was connected. I just used a different flash.

Thanks for the links. I don't think I would have thought to even look for this, so I hope it helped somebody.

I think they did it on icebergs to......Nikon shots show the set up.

I think all the set ups everyone has been showing came from our early geek days with stereo equipment!

Just watch for inputs into inputs. Those capacitors can give you such a scare.....and a big repair bill

Repair bill won't be too big... nothing is connected to my camera except the transmitter. No input to input as far as I can see. Just two outputs being utilized. I know what you mean though. Again, the worst case scenario is that I fry one of my $20 triggers or one of my free, old flashes. I can live with that! :) Of course, getting them from friggin' China takes a long time, but I guess that's the price of going cheap.

Great Idea!
I tried it with an optical slave and it fried it.
I think the trigger voltage was to high.
