Didn't figure this to be OT as it could have so many applications for us guys in here, not only for those with smaller cameras..

I've been contacted by a company here in Australia that would like a product that they've invented reviewed on my blog in the aim of some extra promotion.

After checking out the product I figured it was pretty cool and could instantly see it's worth so I agreed.

Apart from obviously being able to put a point and click camera on this 'tripod' which is very handy this time of year with all the party happenings, you could also stand a flash on it at varying angles and even on it's side.

Unfortunately it's only for sale in Australia at the moment, but I'm trying to convince the company to take it further as I think they might be on a winner here..

So check it out.

I'd like to know more. Could you put something beside this for scale? Like would a small DSLR fit in this? Are they selling this as a pattern to cut out onto your own cardboard, or the item itself?

Thanks in advance

I've got my razor knife out now cutting up a plastic 29cent report cover . A larger verso from a $ 1.29 notebook ( florescent Orange so you don't loose it in the field ) is in "Research and Development' as we speak"

I wish some smart accessories supply folks would mark their packaging materials so we photo gs could cut and fold it it into useful items ... Yea Right

I've bought a couple and they should be arriving today, so I'll see how they go with various items in them, ie. 350D, 580 flash, Playstation Portable, anything else I can find.

Here it is with an Olympus point and clicker in it..

Just spoke to the inventor, at this stage its only available in Australia and direct sales to the end users. He wants to keep the product as cheap and as useful as possible. So unless you know someone in Australia that can send it on over to you, sorry.. It's kinda like Apple not selling me an iPhone coz I live in Australia..heheh..

The current price of $5.99 AUD includes tax and shipping to anywhere in Australia, it's just so darn inexpensive. No way could the price remain that low if it was in shops, on ebay, or shipped overseas unfortunately..

I'm sure a template or another version will turn up online sooner or later.

Isn't the camera in backwards?

Mat Packer  Pro User  says:

@gtmlabels - nah, you can position it in any of the little cut outs to change the angle of the shot depending on where you place the 'tripod', ie. tilt it back for an upward angle, tilt it down for a downward angle..
