05 Apr 11 - This group is for the posting of Artist Trading Card, or ATC's, only. Created by street artists. I've had to deny posts of great works of art that weren't ATC's...Sorry. There are many other groups for the many art forms that street artists favor, like stickers, vinyls ext. I'd like to see the same art that we put on stickers, vinyls, deadcans, canvas, wood and everything else we can thing of in an ATC standard size of 2.5" x 3.5". They are for trading and collecting. They're light, small and...

About Street Artists - Art Trading Cards Campaign

Street artist stencil, spray paint, write graffiti, paint in all mediums, draw, collage, lino print, and any thing else they can think of on anything they can get their hands on from dead cans, cardboard, mail art, stickers, paper, postal labals, canvas -mini, stretcted, or un-stretched, wood panels, old found wood, vinyl records and toys. Now I'm probably leaving some shit out, but my point is, mailing all of these can be costly. Making them can be time consuming, not that we mind at all! If your like me you need it to breathe!!!

ATC's are something else for us to trade and get our work out there. Maybe it doesn't feed the ego as much as having your slaps all over a city or the world... This is more art for arts sake than adding inches to your dick.

Maybe someone loves your art but can't afford the supplies for lots of hand drawn slaps like painters, markers, and such, or overseas shipping for a pack of slaps. So you trade a few ATC's until you can afford to do the other trades. I would love to see some of my contacts graff writting on a small 2.5" x 3.5" piece. Simple ink pens, or watercolor paints or pencils, colored pencils, pastels, oil pastels... cheap supplies.

And for those who love cardboards... just make them ATC size and it's done! Your ATC can be made of ANY material! That's what can make it exciting. I have some old copper and aluminum roofing flashing (make sure you file down the edges) I'm going to play around with. Mica, You can get lots of flooring samples at Home Depot and Lowes to experiment with. Balsa wood. I even do mine on plain sketch paper and mount them on worthless football cards, hockey cards, or whatever. Then I spray paint the back flat back and put a sticker with my name, the title of the piece, and date it.

Best part is there are no rules except please keep it as close to street/lowbrow art as possible. I'm so sick of the 'Soccer Moms' who've totally taken over the art form with the same old images of vintage ladies and children in swimsuits! You can even take pics of your art on the street and print, mount the pic on an ATC!

I'll be making videos of image transfer techniques with packing tape and acetone. And I'll upload a history of how the art form was started in 1997.

I want everyone to have fun and be inspired by others! I sure am! I use these mostly as an excercise to get me going on my other art because a 2.5" x 3.5" piece of paper or illustration board is much less intimidating!

If I were you and are not familiarwith these awesome forms of art... do a google search of Artist Trading Cards. It Takes a lot of sifting but eventually you might find something that suites you. Which is exactly why I started this group! So the search for street inspired art in ATC form won't be such an exercise in futility!

Have fun everyone!
