About Strange and funny signs

Welcome to "Strange and funny signs". This group is photos of any kind of sign that's funny, or is just plain strange and wierd, or just don't make sense at all.

Now, you'd think that the name alone would pretty much indicate what's on topic, but it sometimes seems it doesn't to some folks, so here's some guidelines:

• Signs. If it's not a sign, this isn't the place.

• Strange and (or) funny: Is it? If it's not, this also isn't the place for it.

According to Webster's, a sign is:

"A display (as a lettered board or a configuration of neon tubing) used to identify or advertise a place of business or a product b: a posted command, warning, or direction"

(We would hope we don't need to define "funny" or "strange" to anyone.) ;-)

What doesn't quality for the group:

• Graffiti. (Including stencil graffiti)
• Bumper stickers
• Putting a thought balloon on a photo and posting it isn't a sign.
• Posting the output of one of those "sign generator" websites.
• Clothing (t-shirts, etc) with printing on them.
• Those "humorous" tin or plastic signs they sell at gift shops.
• Selectively photographing (or cropping) part of a normal sign to make it funny or strange. You're just faking it.
• Photoshopping signs to make them funny or strange.
• Making a sign yourself that's funny or strange, just to post it here.

(These are all things we've found in the group, which is why they're mentioned here.)

Finally, before you post, ask yourself "Is this really funny/strange/weird?". If it made you laugh out loud, or gave you a "What the..." feeling, then it's probably OK. Still not sure? Show it to someone else. If they laugh or say "What the...", you're probably good to go. Why do we say this? ...because (again), there's tons of truly unfunny, not weird submissions here. We'll be cleaning them out as time allows. (please have patience, there's a lot to go through)

BTW, signs that say "Don't even think of parking here" or "<some brand of car> parking only, all others will be crushed" aren't funny anymore. (There were many examples of this in the group.)

Lastly, if something you submit doesn't make it in the group (or is pulled out), please don't take it personally. Keep plugging away. Who knows, your next one might cause someone to snork Coca-Cola out their nose, which would make it even funnier! ;-)

So, now that we're cleared all that up, we hope you'll enjoy the funny signs, and post your what you find here for others to laugh or scratch their heads at. :-)
