About Petition for the cessation of whaling and slaughter of cetaceans
This group constitutes an experiment. It is intended to find out just how much change a motivated people can make irregardless of nationality.
The goal here is to bring about the cessation of whaling and the slaughter of cetaceans worldwide. Since the ban of commercial whaling by the IWC in 1986, we have seen countless displays of the world populace demanding that the moratorium be enforced. Since no governmental body has taken up this fight it is time to show the world that there are consequences for acting against the wishes of the world populace.
According to the UN tourism barometer, in 2007 japan was the 28th most visited country in the world, an industry that generated over 9 billion dollars in revenue. Needless to say, the tourism industry is a vital part of the Japanese economy. Whaling on the other hand is not an economically viable industry. Therefore let us institute a boycott of all travel to japan until the practice of whaling, and cetacean slaughter are abolished once and for all.
Please post pictures of cetaceans as a show of support, and a promise, to never travel to japan until whaling is no more. Invite all your friends to join, and dissuade anyone from traveling to japan from doing so. Together we can make a difference.
