In 1643 Sir William Brereton set out from Northwich to attack the Earl of Derby at Warrington. Sir William's army was routed at Stockton Heath and tradition has it that many of Cromwell's army who died on the Heath were buried at Hill Cliffe and Budworth.
Stockton Heath is located to the North of the Bridgewater Canal and South of the Manchester Ship Canal. Its population is approx. 6396.
There are numerous Bars and Resturants in the centre of Stockton Heath and the centre has changes steadily over the years...
