About Advertising Stencils

This group is for stencils created for the specific purpose of marketing a product.

Face it, stencils will always be a way for people to communicate with each other. Unfortunately, there are some people who want to use this medium in order to sell things to others. They like to call it guerrilla marketing. Whatever they want to call it, it's still advertising.

I've always hesitated to take pictures of such stencils when I come across them. Despite this hesitation, I always pull my camera out. My thoughts on this is that they need to be recorded for posterity. It's a nice snapshot of a small window of the past, showing what people were into at the time.

So, please add your advertising related stencils to this pool: Bands, Movies, TV Shows, whatever. As long as someone is trying to make a profit off of it.

A couple of rules on this one:

(1) Obey/Giant stencils really have no place in this group. Mainly because everyone's seen them and taken pictures of them. They would literally dominate the group.

(2) Refrain from going on diatribes in the discussion section on how much advertising sucks. We all know how much it sucks and how evil it is. I want to keep this group fun. Political rhetoric would just muck things up. This is not, nor will it ever be, a politically-related Flickr group.

(3) If you could also explain what the stencil is advertising, that would be great. Sometimes they promote obscure bands or a movie no one's heard of.
