About Split Field

Photographs taken using split field lenses (also called split focus, two field and split diopter filters) or other creative techniques for photographing two distinct focal planes. The idea is to have an object in focus for each plane, although the lens can be used backwards to further blur an unfocused element.

Examples of alternative techniques are using a magnifying glass, spectacles or soda pop bottle; not two separately focused photos edited together (focus stacking) in post-production.
