About Spinners & Saints

this group aims to portrait a variety of humans reaching high levels of orbital angular momentum.

i'd like to keep the group focused on people (the spinners) holding other people (the saints) and spinning them. there is something intense about those images as the first person point of view conveys a sense of trust, fun and speed. and we seem to be getting a pretty good collection now !!

DIY spinning since 80% of questions revolve around (!) "how did you do it ?"

1. eat: lightly
2. find a spot where everyone can land softly if the spin turns into a spiral dive (grass, sand...)
3. camera settings: shutter priority, 1/15 (slower younger lighter children) to 1/60th sec (faster older heavier child), short focal (as aim will be approximative), 50cm focus.
4. position: hold the saint and spin (start very gently to keep saints' arms attached), someone holds the camera above or below your arms, pointing down, spinning with you. spinner directs the shooter when to shoot.

extra tips:
1. there is only so much spinning you can do before everybody is grounded, take advantage of every opportunity to shoot. don't spin blanks.
2. spinner should raise or lower the saint as he/she spins if they see the shooter is aiming to low or too high
3. if you spin over grass, be sure to check WB afterwards as a lot of green in the image can mess up with the camera's willingness to use the "grey world" white balancing algorithm...
4. overcast or shade is better as spinning will change exposure constantly if contrast is too high and it will reduce the number of good shots you get. or maybe it'll be genius.

spin it your own way, but i got my inspiration from a MILK book cover
