About South Pacific Coast RailRoad (SPCRR)
This group is dedicated solely to the South Pacific Coast RailRoad company located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern CA.
The original route started from Oakland and ended in Santa Cruz. It provided transportation for the local folk through the Santa Cruz mountains and supplied the towns with resources such as lumber, ammunition, oil, and more. -- The trackage is still used in some parts of the line by the Union Pacific RR, but the rest has either been abandoned, torn up, blasted, or covered by nature.
This group welcomes all current and historical photos of the rail lines, bridges, trestles, tunnels, rail equipment (cars, engines, etc), stations, towns, and people that was once a part of the South Pacific Coast RailRoad.
Popular towns and areas that the SPCRR served:
Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, Fremont, Newark, Alviso, Lafayette, San Jose, Los Gatos, Lexington, Alma, Wrights, Laurel, Glenwood, Zayante, Olympia, Felton, Santa Cruz.
