No, Canoneers is not a misspelling. I was a cannoneer before (one who is trained in cannon artillery), so I thought the name was a clever pun.

Welcome to the "Southwest Canoneer" Group on FLICKR. This is a place to share photos and scans of or by Canon cameras and exchange news and opinions about them.

Who Should Join?
This group is for users of Canon cameras in and around the city of El Paso and West Texas/Southern New Mexico. The objective is to find local help, support, and fan groups of Canon cameras.

Flickr meet-ups are strongly encouraged within the group, hence the reason for the geographically localized designation. The only requirement is that members have/use Canon cameras, whether it be digital, SLR, DSLR, analog (film), vintage or rare, or point & shoot.

How Do Threads Work?
Threads are discussions about Canon cameras and topics that interest us. Let's keep it pleasant. NO ADVERTISING, POLITICAL or PERSONAL DISCUSSIONS are allowed. Also, the brand debate issue will henceforth not be addressed. We will not get into brand debates. Practical compare/contrast issues are fine to illustrate a point, but flamewars will NOT be tolerated. If a thread is deleted, it has crossed the line. The same goes for offending photos. If you're not sure, ask the Admins before posting or starting a thread.

The Southwest Canoneer Pool
Our group aims to feature unique images made with or of Canon cameras, modifications and product/website events.Try to keep it relevant and Canon related.

Language
You can say it any way you like but we suggest you include English captions to be understood by everyone. And if the profanity exceeds Joe Pesci's in "Goodfellas," it has crossed the line.

What's ACCEPTABLE in the group pool:

Your best shots or scans of shots made with Canon cameras, photos of your Canon camera(s), rare or vintage Canons, modifications and product/website events. POST ONLY WORKS FROM/OF CANON CAMERAS AND THEIR ACCESSORIES. Interesting photos of workspaces, studios/studio spaces, the editing process, darkrooms/darkroom techniques, you holding your camera, or the like can be posted, as long as the caption (or EXIF data, for digital) makes it clear the photo was taken with a Canon (for film).

What's NOT ALLOWED in the group pool:

(1) Photos of other, non-Canon brand cameras. We will NOT get into brand debates here.

(2) Photos clearly not taken with a Canon camera. For film/print scans, we'll just have to depend on the honor system.

(3) Nudes - We respect your creativity BUT - this is an all-ages, all-sensibilities pool and we aim to keep it all ages safe. PG-13 is just about right.

(4) Photographs which were not taken by you. Copyright infringement is a serious offense. Do not copy/use images without permission. More info is available @ Creative Commons.

(5) Photographs/comments/text deemed offensive and/or damaging to any person, group, race or religion.

(6) Strictly no advertising or direct linking to commercial sites.

This group is also subject to FLICKR's Community Guidelines.
