About Southern Folks & Their Families

A group for old photos (the older the better, but let's say at least 25 years old) of people from the American South. Family portraits are highly encouraged.

Also, it's preferable that the photographs be of the group members' own families - not "found" photos - these are usually much richer in their descriptions, have more complete identifications, and can have really great stories attached to them. After all, it is those roots that we're after.

[Note: Southerness is self-defined. So, if you think your family is Southern...well, it is. But if you can't decide and you must have a definition:

Geographically speaking, this group defines the South very broadly, including: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

We also welcome "former Southerners" and transplants.]
