dj.bp - I hope my comment was not taken as criticism. The photo you chose was great, I just felt like a change of pace was needed.
Incidentally, while I've been happy to have my nominations blogged (and think the photos I nominated were great), I'm curious if there is going to be any mechanism for consensus. (After all, I'm no expert.)

I think consensus leads to bland samey images.
I'm no expert either but I know what i like. Some of the shots that have been nominated aren't ones I've particularly liked but I've really liked some others. I'm not going to vet the nominations other than to avoid blogging sexually explicit images.
Nominations are open to every member of the group to nominate whatever shots from the pool they think are worthy of being included.

@apatek - I did not take it as criticism, don't worry. I ummed and arred as it were about posting the shot, but I had little time on my hands and had already spent long enough trawling the pool for something that caught my attention. The post was in response to the previous call from 1AlanM to blog another photo. I don't easily take offence.
