About Sometimes They Rise - AM Radio
On September 21, 2009 - AM Radio opened a new art installation, hosted again by IDIA, called - Surface - replacing his Sometimes They Rise build. There are wide, long views to a distant horizon. There are farm fields, a farm house off to one side with some of his personal artwork from RL. Nearby are hay bales, farm fields, a water tower, and a train on a track.
On one side of the train, AM has provided for a way for all who visit to add to his piece of art by drawing some of their own graffiti on the train. On a table near the train sits a spray paint can. If you click on the can, you will be taken to AM's Graffiti Life website outside of Second Life where you will find the tools to make your own creation. Click upload when you are done, and it will appear on the train in SL. Eventually, it will be replaced by other people's uploads, but all creations will also be automatically uploaded to AM's Surfacegraph Flicker site where they will all be archived.
If you are not part of Second Life, or even if you are, you actually don't need to be in Second Life to participate. All you need to do is visit the Graffiti Life website, create your graffiti, and then upload.

All creations whether made by someone in Second Life or not, will be archived at the Surfacegraph Flickr site below:

On Aug 7, 2009, AM Radio opened a new build called, Sometimes They Rise. It is an art installation which is being hosted by Mencius Watts, and IDIA, The Institute for Digital Intermedia Arts, which is a part of the Center for Media Design at Ball State University in Indiana - idiarts.org/ .
The build consists of a large group of birch trees in beautiful autumnal color. Interspersed within this grove of trees are various elements, some visible, some hidden, some intriguing, as one would expect to find in a build by AM Radio.
Here is what AM had to say about this new build, in the notice he sent to his group, The Quiet and The Far Away:
"This location follows ideas first presented in The Red and The Wild. Sometimes They Rise is a simple space which considers composition and the color yellow as a theme. You'll see ideas I originally sketched in my limited edition prints" :
