SOLENT PROTECTION SOCIETY DVD
Over the winter Graham Rabbitts (GrahamAndDairne) has put together a 30 minute DVD presentation for Solent Protection Society based almost entirely on pictures from this Group. The presentation, which has a commentary by Penny Gower, and music by the Apollo Symphony Orchestra, has been well received. So Solent Protection Society have resolved thank the people who have freely granted consent for the use of their pictures by giving them a copy of the DVD. We are still working out how to thank those who contributed
We are hoping to run a photographic competition judged by Ken Beken, the well known local Solent yachting photographer. Who knows? There could even be a calendar....
The help and support Solent Protection Society has been granted by the Solent Flickr members has been quite humbling. The Council is determined that it will respond by making the Society more inclusive and attempt to find new ways in which members can contribute directly to the protection of the Solent.

About the Solent Group
This group is intended to show the glory of the Solent in photos and video. Pictures should be primarily of the scenery, the flora and the fauna as well as the ships and yachts that use the Solent.
A high proportion of each shot should include the area below high tide. Where people are included in the photograph, they should be incidental rather than the dominant reason for the picture.

For this purpose, the Solent is considered to be the area from the Nab Tower to the East of the Isle of Wight, through Spithead and north of Cowes, down the West Solent past Hurst Castle and the Needles to the Landfall buoy to the SW of the Bridge buoy. The harbour areas of the Solent, including Chichester, Langstone, Portsmouth Bembridge, Newtown, Keyhaven and all the river ports such as Lymington Beaulieu, Southampton, Hamble, and Cowes. are also included. Moderators and Admins are nominated by a group of Solent Protection Society Members
