Portraits with a soft melancholic lighting, or in low light, or in shade.

Members must have all submissions approved by an admin before they get posted to the pool. If you submitted a photo that wasn't approved, it isn't because we don't like you or your work. Chances are, you were invited by me or our other admin to submit another photo, which brought you here in the first place. So it isn't that.

Here at Softly Lit Portraits, we're trying to live up to our name. If you submit a photo that has the subject in soft light, and there is a lot of bright light elsewhere in the portrait, well, it's not what we're looking for. Please take this factor into consideration.

Another reason you might find your photo rejected is if, in fact, it's not your photo, but something you may have borrowed from another photog and edited in some way. I give, as a vague example, someone who colorized a black and white photo of a movie star. Sorry, but it's not what we're looking for.

We welcome your submissions, but we must hold everyone to these standards, plus certain other aesthetic ones that beggar my descriptive powers. But it ain't personal, is what I'm saying.
