About Sockburn Hall Project

Sockburn is a beautiful house south of Darlington which has been in my family for fifty years but which, through lack of funds for maintenance and restoration, has fallen into a state of disrepair. If we can't find a way to secure the hall and make it financially sustainable then it is likely that it would have to be sold to developers risking a change to the character of the house and its history being lost. Our aim is to restore the house to make it a usable asset for anyone who wants to be involved.

Please use this group to post pictures of the Sockburn area or house to help give this Grade II* listed building a new lease of life! To go on the 'Sockburn update' email list, or if you've got ideas to help with the restoration, want to know about opportunities to come and take photos, just contact me.

NOTE: If you see a picture and it makes you think of a good use for the building, leave a comment... you never know where it might lead!

To find out more about the site, have a look at the English Heritage page for Sockburn.
