About Social and Political Commentary
Artists in this group create images as social and political commentary.
The artist is the reporter and the analyst, exploring the nature of society.
Always at stake is the artists wish to uncover the workings of society and to draw conclusions for understanding it more effectively.
The artist will be critical of political structures which are seen as harmful. The artist will aim to preserve what is good and condemn what is threatening.
The artist will make a statement about social condition from an individual social and political perspective.
The image is always accompanied by a text providing observations to direct the interpretation of the image. The text is an explanation of the view being expressed. It is an invitation to discuss and spark a discourse.
The artist is aiming to do more than decorate rooms. The aim is to evolve a unique language to represent a vision based on a social and political theme.
The concept behind an image is essential to an artworks communication. The image must be created with constant consciousness that it will be viewed by another and the artist must control what is given to the audience.
Social and Political PORTRAYAL - portrays events or situations people find themselves in as a result of social or political structures.
Social and Political PROMOTION - ways and means towards the resolution of the problem are presented.
Social and Political PROJECTION - portrays what could happen if.....
Our world is undergoing comprehensive systemic collapse. This group is for people who wish to use their art to express their views on the human condition.
