About Social Media Club Austin

Social Media Club is being organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and for promoting media literacy. This is the beginning of a global conversation about building an organization and a community where the many diverse groups of people who care about social media can come together to discover, connect, share and learn.

Connie Reece is the Team Leader for Social Media Club Austin, which was the 14th local chapter to launch worldwide. We’re part of a global movement — some call it a revolution — of like-minded people from diverse industries and professions. What binds us together is a common interest in emerging media.

In trying to define ourselves, we came up with this tagline: “part think tank, part curiosity, all new media.” At the rate new media is becoming old media, however, we may have to rethink that phrase!
