09 Jun 07 - The sound of slamming doors is something that Ill will always associate with travelling by train. The ghostly silence of my own station is still quite strange now that the last slam door train has gone.
Obviously the Southern was the last to get rid of slam door EMU trains but this site is open to pictures of any British train with slam doors.

About Slam Door Train

The sound of slamming doors was once as much a part of railways as the rails themselves until now ! It is to be heard no more on Britains railways (except on the preserved lines). The Southeast , the last stronghold of the manually operated door train has succumbed to modernisation. Nearly all the old stock has now been scrapped. Here at least some memories live on .
