The wonderful american mixed med artist Bernie Berlin has for some time devoted much of her time and energy in running a no kill dog and cat shelter charity called 'A Place to Bark'. She is currently competing in a commercial competition in order to win much needed cash to help keep open the shelter and is calling on, and relying on the public to vote on her commercial to help her win.
Many of you will already be familiar with the name Bernie Berlin and/or the charity. As well as being one awesome artist she is author of the famous 'Artist Trading Cards workshop'. It was the first book I'd ever purchased regarding ATCing and it played much of a part in my venture into this artform. I'm willing to bet that many, if not all of you at some point, whether you know it or not, have also been influenced by her work and tutorials. She has played a very big part in bringing mixed med into the ATCing community....and making us explore and think outside the box. I'm grateful to her for this and want to pay that back by helping her out with this current event...and hope you will join me too.
I've blogged about the competition...which you can read about via this link. It will give you the appropriate links to the website and commercial and all that is asked is that you give it a top 5 rating. The competion runs until 27th October (2010) you can place a one off vote...or as many as one EVERY DAY until the event closes. All help counts and will be gratefully recieved.

There are lots of lovely photos on my blog post...taken by Bernie and staff of APTB and I'm delighted to have been granted permission to use them. Please take a moment of your time to check them out....and then go and vote....please.
It's a safe website to visit, there is no catch, nothing to sign up to, no cash or personal details to be parted with.....and no comitment other than time to click on the wesite and vote....how easy is that!
I'm taking a bit of an art sabatical at the moment but have pledged to help out Bernie and Vice President of APTB - Claudine Hellmuth (another wonderful artist you may know) by voting and spreading the word on my side of the pond, here in England...and to as many people as I know. Hence this post to you lovely SixInchSquareers and hope all you fellow artists and crafters find it in your heart to help.
I'm also asking if those of you with Blogs would mind sparing up a few inches of your blog page to mention about the competition too. I have no idea how many people pass by my blog and read it....I only have a small number of signed up followers....but along with all of your own blog readers we could jointly reach out so so many more.
(please note that if you do blog about the competition, you may use links to the appropriate pages, but all photos/images are copyright Bernie Berlin and must not be copied/reproduced in any way without prior written permission by the appropriate persons).
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this....please help Bernie win....as Claudine says "One Click! Save an animals life!"
Ta muchly
