About Silver Gelatin
Traditional hand crafted silver gelatin photographic prints, developed and printed in the darkroom on light sensitive fibre-based or resin coated paper. Also accepted are other types of darkroom prints made on alternative media such as wood, rocks, plastic, bricks, etc. or any other substrate that has been coated with some type of liquid emulsion.
The aim of the group is to create a gallery of the finest black and white prints made by our members. We hope that you will keep in mind that the work you submit to the group represents you as a photographer so please be selective with your work and choose only your best images.
For images submitted to the group pool, please include a tag or caption which contains the following information:
- brand and type of paper (or alternative media)
- developer used
- any other special chemicals or toners
- any special process used, such as lithprinting, platinum printing, argyrotype, gum bichromate, etc.
The group also accepts digital photos of prints larger than 8x10" since most flatbed scanners are not big enough to accommodate them, but please mention what paper or alternative process was used so the image is recognised as being an actual print.
