About Silver Halide
This is a group specifically for traditional black and white film photography, and especially for film and prints you have developed yourself.
I have also always thought there is something unique and beautiful about how real black and white film captures silver and chrome subjects. You just can't beat silver captured in silver halide! So if you have any B&W film photos with metallic subjects, show them off here! However, any black and white film photos are welcome.
This is a FILM group. No pictures from digital cameras are accepted, except pictures directly related to film photography (darkroom equipment, vintage cameras, etc). Do not use software to try to "simulate" film. Also, please do not convert color photos to B&W. Only original black and white images should be posted. Images can be scanned from negatives or scanned from prints, which ever way is best for you.
All discussion related to film photography is welcome. Please share your picture taking and developing techniques, talk about your favorite films and subjects, etc. Color film photography may also be discussed, but at the moment I would like to focus on B&W photography, so please do not post color photos in the group pool.
You are welcome to post pictures using experimental developing techniques, as long as the manipulation was done in camera, or while developing the film or print. Do not post excessively "Photoshopped" pictures!
Although the phrase "film photography" is used, black and white photos from any silver based light sensitized medium may be posted. If you've made your own emulsion with Liquid Light or another light sensitive coating, please feel free to post those pictures too!
Thank you for joining!
