15 Feb 10 - Objects that are normally black aren't automatically silhouettes. People wearing black aren't automatically silhouettes. If your photo is deleted, this is probably the reason why. It's really not that difficult to figure out.

About Silhouettes in Black and White

Silhouette images always look powerful and bold, but black and white silhouettes have an amazing aura of mysterious beauty. There is no distraction from colour; we can fully appreciate the silhouette against it's tonal backdrop, bringing attention the sharpness, boldness and contrast. With colourful silhouette images, the focus or purpose of the image may be on something totally different such as a sunset or a green field - whereas in black and white the silhouetted object immediately demands our focal attention.
A silhouette can be described as a section of pure black that appears almost 2d; something with a featureless inner-space. it should not have much visible detail although a little is acceptable.

Here are a few basic guidelines to ensure we get a consistent pool of black and white silhouettes:
-Soft sepia tones are acceptable as long as there are no colours showing through
-Ensure the silhouette has a decent deep solidity about it, not just a little darker than the surrounds.
thanks :)
