This is the official Flickr group for silentlegacy.com.

The idea is that this is a place for you to add your favourite photo. Yes, I know there are plenty of "favourite photo" groups on Flickr already. Hopefully this one will be a little different.

I would like you to add the photo you keep going back to and glowing with pride when you see it. The one you punched the air and said "YES!" when you first saw it. It should be a photo you took yourself (or at least own copyright on - if it was one taken of you when you were 10 by Grandad).

This isn't a technical group. I don't want to see all the f stops and shutter speeds you used. It isn't for the photos that other people have favourited - it might not even be good enough to be favourited.

You don't have to trawl through other photos in the pool to comment on them - there is no competition here. The photos don't have to be the best in your portfolio - they have to simply be your favourite. No one will laugh at baby / pet / out of focus photos - as long as they are YOUR FAVOURITE they are allowed in here.

BUT THE CATCH IS . . .

I want to see WHY it is important to you. What makes it important to you? Tell me a story about what you were doing when you took it. Was it just a lucky snap? Was it carefully set up? What does it make you feel when you see it again? Have you taken better photos since but still love that one the most? What do other people think of it? Do they agree with you or do they just not get what you see in it? Where you experienced or inexperienced when you took it - where were you on your learning curve?

Is this the photo you would "save from a burning house" ? Is this the one you want to leave as a silent legacy?

I know that favourites come and go. You may have more than one. There is no limit to how many you can add here but don't abuse it. I suggest no more than five photos in the group at any given time.

Photos posted to the pool may be featured on the silentlegacy.com home page with credit and a link to the photographer's web site but will also include the story you write. To be honest, the stories are more important than the photos! Make sure you don't mind appearing there!

Photos without a write up about why this is your favourite will be deleted without explanation.
