Powerhouse Museum (a group admin) says: 07 Apr 09 - This is our new group about signs in Australia. We want to see images of signs that have captured your attention so that we can map them in some self-guided tours, and possibly even use them in a new exhibition we're developing for next year.

About Sign design in Australia
We live in a world of signs. Every day we recognise and respond to dozens of signs.
How did signs gain this power? Often relying on image and design rather than text, signs are a universal, ageless form of communication. Signs are a shorthand, designed to attract immediate attention and recognition. This compression of message gives signs a special appeal and a surprising ability to evoke emotions, memories and associations.
Next year we will be presenting an exhibition about signs and signage and would love to see images of signs, taken in Australia, that have captured your attention in some way.
Please consider using a Creative Commons licence for your work and enabling the 'blog this function' as we may showcase your work online and in the gallery too.
It would be great if you could geo-map your images so that we can produce a downloadable self-guided tour.
