About Showcase : 1 pic a day : the best of the best

Note: It would be extraordinarily helpful if posters enabled "All Sizes" or provided a link to a larger size photo than the standard viewable on the photo page. For things like macros it is impossible to determine if the photo is in sharp focus at that size. Photos that have large shadowed areas that may, or may not contain elements and details pertinent to the overall composition are difficult to see clearly at the standard size.

This is not a requirement, just a request. Photos that can be viewed at a larger size are also more enjoyable overall, as detail not visible at smaller sizes becomes apparent.

New Guidelines

Photographs admitted to the group will have excellent artistic quality, excellent technical merit and possess some unusual quality. There are no restrictions on subject matter, but please, no clichés!

Photographs that are felt not to 'fit in' with the pool will be deleted at the discretion of the admins. This is very subjective so don't take it personally if your photo is deleted. We will retain the best of the best of every genre, but some topics are highly overrepresented, so many very very good photos may be deleted. Photos that do not use frames or borders and don't have signatures are highly preferred. If your photo is deleted, please don't repost. Strive to do even better.

We want to create a beautiful pool of photographs that have unusual quality and inspire creativity. So please think carefully before submitting a photo. This group is about excellence in amateur and professional photography. Let's build a rich and varied photo album
from the finest pictures on Flickr, a place to rest your eye and take in the best of the best.

There will no longer be an exception made for photos with a certain number of favorites, as we've done in the past. Too many groups now exist for the sole purpose of artificially inflating the numbers of favorites that it has become a meaningless metric.

One photo may be posted to the group pool each day.

This group is not a dumping ground for everything in your photo stream. Look before you leap - it will save us extra admin work and you a little bit of heartache. :)
