About Shanghai Open Gallery

This is a pool for your Shanghai photos, with a difference: I want the community to select the best photos, and, within the next 12 months, arrange a public exhibition to show them off.

There are so many excellent, high-quality images of Shanghai on Flickr -- many that are far more creative than the derivative works so often seen on display in Shanghai.

Here's how it will work:

* You post work here of which you are proud.
* The community decides which photos it likes the best.
* We arrange an exhibition in Shanghai and open it to the public -- you cover the costs of printing your work, and we share any other costs as needed.
* As we build up enough work for a big exhibition, the community can work together to help make it a success.
* You get to decide if you want to sell your work at an exhibition, and will be able to freely advertise your name/website there. You also keep 100% of any proceeds from selling your work.
* I envisage also having interactive displays available for people to browse the group, and expand the number of participants, hopefully making this a regular fixture.



Here are a few simple rules to make it work:

* Any work is accepted -- buildings, people, culture, provided that you live, are based, or have lived in Shanghai or neighbouring cities.
* The work should be related to Shanghai, or nearby towns/villages (no further afield than Jiangsu or Zhejiang please).
* By posting your work, you signify that you'll be around and willing to exhibit your work if it gets chosen -- including arranging for printing of your shots.
* Graphic design and derivative works are welcomed, but the source image must be your own.
* No explicit content or nudity.
* By posting your image, you retain full copyright -- we will not print or exhibit it without your explicit consent (and help!).


Let's have some fun, post some decent shots, and hopefully -- with luck -- make an exhibition we can be proud of!

Don't be shy to post images -- all are welcome. However, submission is limited to 10 per day, to prevent one person from flooding the group.
