About Shoot My Elephant

Shoot My Elephant is the happy-go-lucky critique game devised for anyone directly involved in the first ever online course in photojournalism and documentary photography MA at the London College of Communication. The simple rules are as follows. Once you’ve joined the group, post one of your photographs to it (only one photograph in the pool at a time please). Others will then comment on it and tag a vote of either KEEP or LOSE. At the same time the person posting will also tag a vote and leave a comment on the other photographs in the pool in the same manner. Once five tagged votes of either KEEP or LOSE has been reached, the picture in question will be removed from the main Shoot My Elephant pool and sent to one of the four online Shoot My Elephant groups /galleries, namely Shoot My Elephant WINNERS (for pictures tagged with five KEEPs plus any number of LOSE tags from one to four), Shoot My Elephant LOSERS (for the reverse of the above), Shoot My Elephant SWIFT KICKS (for five straight LOSE tags and no KEEPs) and the Holy Grail of groups, Shoot My Elephant CLEAN SWEEPS, the group/gallery where photographs deemed perfect in the game will live for all eternity. Shoot My Elephant has been set up as a way of us all to get to know each others’ work a little better, to have some fun, let off steam from the often serious photographic worlds in which we both study and inhabit, and, er, something else as well. Please note that this is currently the Beta version. All comments and suggestions are welcome.
