About Shmobist
Okay...first of all, I have to apologize to my wife for starting another group. I just couldn't live without this one. My promise to her is that I will promote several people to Admin to help run it, and my involvement will be mostly photo-related...so there. (and this note will go away soon too ;)
Now, on to the good stuff:
This group is all about those of us who use ghetto lighting techniques in our photos. Can't afford a strobe, umbrella, or softbox? Have one and don't know shit about using it so you still use a lamp? Do you use candles and flashlights to light your face?
If you answered yes to any of the above, this group is for you. I have a HUGE amount of respect for true strobists...their work is great and it takes a lot of talent and patience and education to do it. Unfortunately, I have none of that right now, haha :D So instead, I have created this group to sort of poke fun at the entire movement.
MY ONE REQUIREMENT: In true "strobist" fashion, you must post your "SHMOBIST" info under your description. Example: "Halogen lamp at 80 degrees to left of subject at half power on dimmer switch."
If me or any other moderator feels your shot does not meet the group requirements, we have every right to give it the boot, with or without explanation....yeah, it's like that ;)
Oh...and sorry, but Natural Light, aka The Sun, doesn't count here.
