About Sharing Exposures (Now merged with Photopolis - The Photographer

Sharing Exposures has merged with Photopolis - The Photographer's Community. Please join us over there!

Welcome to Sharing Exposures!

As the name implies, this group is for sharing your photographic knowledge and efforts, your exposures, with others in the group. In this group, when you post your image to the pool you are making a commitment to give honest and constructive comments on other recent posts to the pool. To guide your photographic learning, we pick monthly themes but are also open to seeing your work on personal on-going projects whether or not it fits the monthly theme. In addition, the admins will pick photos from the pool every few days for open group discussion. By posting to the pool you agree for you photo to be posted in an open discussion thread.

All posts to the Sharing Exposures pool must follow these three guidelines:

1) Images must be taken within the month, or if at the beginning of a month, within a week before the month began.
2) Posts must conform to one of the monthly themes or an on-going personal project.
3) Posts must be accompanied by a Sharing Exposures Statement in the image comments.

A Sharing Exposures Statement is a few sentences specifically addressing the Sharing Exposures group. The statement must include what theme or on-going personal project you are posting against. It must also include some additional narrative information. This additional information could include why you took your photo, technical details of how it was accomplished, why you posted the photo, you can ask the members of the group for their opinion on some aspect of the image, or simply state your thoughts about the image.

Here is an example of a Sharing Exposures Statement that you will find in the comments of this image:

Sharing Exposures - July Theme: Spontaneous Photography
Taken with a camera phone in low light and part of my larger Camera Phone Portraits series. It is nearly impossible to really stop motion in these conditions on this camera. Do the focus problems bother you or does it add to the quirkiness of the scene? My favorite part is the line of people heading into the far room for Spin class.

If you are working on an on-going project, feel free to start a thread to tell us about your project and share your experiences as you work it through. It can be your project diary.

We are an easy going group, but when you fail to provide feedback to the other members of the group, the group fails.

If you fail to follow the three (3) guidelines above, your photo will be removed from the pool by one of the admins or moderators.
