About "SFX - Special Effects"
Don't get awed by the group name...it's merely there "for effect." Haha!
Simply stated, this is a group for amateurs, beginners, serious hobbyists and/or pros who passionately take pictures with "special effects" filters and lenses, or post-process these later in the computer with the help of Photoshop, Elements and other similar programs.
NOTE: As of January 11, 2007, we've dropped "photography" from our group name to allow submissions that are entirely computer generated effects (C.G.E.). In movies, CGE's are later integrated into the film itself anyway, and thus gain legitimacy as "photography."
It would be ideal if members could post side-by-side, "before & after" photos, plus a short description of what was done (if it were not immediately evident from the photos) to achieve the desired effect.
So, keep on shooting and post 'em, folks!

Update, Nov. 09, 2006:
There have been several questions raised as to what aspects of photography constitute "Special Effects." To those who have come across our flickr group site, here are a few internet links that delve on the subject matter:

It is our hope that once you've read some about Special Effects Photography, you will be interested enough to join us. :)

As much as we dislike "fishing for compliments," positively commenting on other members' photos is a way of introducing ourselves (and also telling which photos we like in the pool).
So henceforth please comment on another member's photo for every two photos you upload. Thanks.
