About Sexualization of Public Space
Sexualization of Public Space is an initiative of Sex: A Tell-all Exhibition, of the Montreal Science Centre.
Participate to our SEXUALISATION OF PUBLIC SPACE FORUM. And join us on FACEBOOK.
1. THE “SEXUALIZATION OF PUBLIC SPACE” PROJECT
From beauty products in the drugstore, to jeans on a bus shelter, to beer on a billboard, sexually charged images are used to sell a wide variety of products. They overwhelm the urban landscape and overload our senses. The Montreal Science Centre invites you to share photos and videos of some of the hypersexualized places you come across on a daily basis.
The submitted photos and videos will be shown continuously on a screen in a specially designated area of our upcoming Sex: A Tell-all Exhibition exhibition. Intended for teenagers 12 years and over, the exhibition will be presented at the Montreal Science Centre from April 15, 2010 to March 6, 2011.
2. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
• Take a photo or a video of a sexually charged image in a public place. It is important to include the setting, i.e. the context in which the image is presented — billboard, bus shelter, store window, etc.
• Add the photo or video to your personal Flickr gallery. To do so, you must have your own Flickr account — itʼs free!
• Become a member of the Montreal Science Centreʼs Flickr group Sexualization of Public Space.
• Read the rules of the Sexualization of Public Space Flickr Group, here.
• Upload your photo or video in our group pool with the tag “sexuality2010”. WARNING: Without this tag, your photo or video will not be published.
