A-Line with Elastic -- looks so big!
|
I just drafted my A-line w/ elastic pattern for Singing the Blues...is it me or does the pattern look HUGE (especially at the top/waist)? I double checked that I divided measurement B by 4...
Maybe it looks huge because I like to wear my skirts lower? So A is really at my hip and B is more like around my butt? Or if that's the way I like to wear my skirts, should I use measurement A instead?

If you like to wear your skirts lower, measure A at the place where you like them to sit. Then measurement B should be at the widest part of your butt. Because this skirt isn't fitted, it has a lot more 'ease' in it. Don't forget that when you thread the drawstring through and pull it tight, the skirt won't seem so wide.

Hm...well, I kinda held it up to me, and it seems to look alright. I guess we'll see when I start sewing it together.

I ran into the same thing. My elastic waist skirt ended up being huge on me. I'm going to try to alter the pattern so that it doesn't slope outwards so much and maybe that will help.
I narrowed the side seams on the skirt (thinking that it would cut down on the bulk) and ended up creating a pencil skirt (oops!).
Hopefully I'll get it right next time.
