The place to announce new public and family friendly sets (and slideshows).

POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS

Two reasons to join this group

1. If you like viewing sets or slideshows this will keep you up-to-date with the new ones.

2. If you are someone who wants to announce, promote or re-announce a set.

As with all groups you join, this group will be listed on your Groups List page. When a new topic or thread is added to this group it will automatically jump to the top of your Groups you belong to list. You'll then know there's something new to see - either a new topic or a continuing thread.

As a member of the group there is no commitment to submitting photographs or getting involved in discussion...just read the topics and view the new sets and slideshows.

The group will only work if the membership is high. People will be discouraged from using the group for announcements if the membership is low so PLEASE JOIN. Let's see if this can work. If nothing else, this will act as a survey on how many people on Flickr are interested in keeping up-to-date with new sets.

DESCRIPTION

The group has been set up to provide a place to announce new sets or another person's set and keep informed about new sets. By announcing a new set you will also be promoting the set slideshow as all sets have a slideshow option.

GUIDELINES

To announce a set:

Post a new topic with the set name as the subject.

The Your Post: area should be used for the set link (website address) and you could also include the set slideshow and set comments links. Add a description and anything you want to say about the set. A few images might help too. Example here. One announcement per set.

Another option is to provide a visual link to your set by posting a mosaic image of the set to the group pool. A mosaic of your set can be produced using the Mosaic Maker. All you need is the set address. The mosaic can be uploaded straight to your Flickr photostream. Underneath the mosaic you should include a link to the set in the image description. Example here. Images that are not mosaics will be removed. Mosaics will be removed if there is no link to a set under the image or in the set/group list.

If required and only after a minimum of a month's time the thread can be "bumped" to the top of the topic list to re-promote the set. "Bumping" should be kept to a minimum. There is no need to duplicate posts to re-promote a set. Thread bumping: the act of posting in a thread, with the sole goal of getting it back to the top of the thread list.
Duplicate posts will be deleted.
Threads bumped within a month will be deleted.
This policy will be enforced to ensure everyone has a fair chance of promoting their set.
