I'd like to put forward an underated gem that many would overlook because of Casio's status in the camera market.

Ok, so I'm a noob here so I need to make some good points why this is at least a serious compact, if not a HoF candidate.
Here are a few of the key 'serious' points:

- Canon G spec lens, with support for G Multipliers and wide angle lenses. f2.8 - 4 33mm - 132mm.
- Jpeg, TIFF and even RAW from the service menu
- Standard PC sync port for external flash connection
- Bracketing for Exposure, WB and focus (also others)
- advanced HUD options inc: Histogram, thirds overlay and crazy sniper style hud
- Exposure Lock
- Excellent build quality (metal body), I have a good P700 and a damaged one (broken flash) that lives unprotected in my bag for years as my chuck about.
- Hackable for extreme long exposure via home made 'best shots'
- included remote control and easy timing
- Quite compact for its day
- Looks unique

Downs:
- it's old, really anything above ISO 80/160 is noisy.
- Video is circa 2004, mic is ok
- no IS
- Screw fit adapters not as easy as bayonet Canon A/G adapters
