Leica D-LUX 4?
 |
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and am looking forward to posting and sharing my passion for the medium.
With all the debate (early) about the Panasonic LX3, does anyone know if Leica will be putting
out an actual D-LUX 4, of its own?
Thanks,
Andrew

Nobody knows. All things being equal, I'd consider paying more for the beautiful Leica design. Love the LX-3 features---not a fan of the look.

Interesting that with all the attention in this group for the LX3, there seems to be so little talk of the D-LUX 4.

in this interview [may 2008] leica ceo andreas kaufmann said that we have to wait for leica point-and-shoot developments till the end of next year [=2009].
so nothing to get excited about. yet.

Stefan Daniel (product manager for the M System since 1998) apparently told people that Leica would have a model in cooperation with Panasonic for Photokina. See here -> www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/56309-i...
I'm guessing that means the D-Lux 4, though there is the possibility he was referring to a Leica-branded Micro Four Thirds product.

I'm thinking the same thing regarding the 4/3 direction, Amin. Leica can't be satisfied with a rebadged Panasonic that is virtually identical to an existing Panasonic. We know they don't have the R&D to do this on their own, but it makes more sense to partner with a group that is innovating in a way that enables them to make a more unique offering.
