|
David Attenborough has both in most public libraries and they are excellent.

While we are on book recommendations, I think SLOP-groupies will enjoy the BBC book/VHS/wallchart/fridge-magnet "Alien Empire" all about insects and their adventures, mostly in the midst of plants.
A bit hard to find now (the series was in '95, and kinda flopped) but there ya go.

Although it is not directly about plants, the movie Rivers and Tides has a big helping of nature as art. I find it extremely artisticaly inspiring as well as deeply relaxing. It came out in DVD last month.

I think Al Franken has a nature book out: Pollinators and the Pollinating Pollinators Who Pollinate Them.
Actually, a wonderful book is: The Natural History of Pollination by Michael Proctor, Peter Yeo, Andrew Lack and Timber Press (i think). A fascinating and thorough - but sometimes technical - book about the whole pollination revolution.

it's called the private life of plants here in the UK (maybe so it doesn't get confused with a stevie wonder album called "secret life of plants"?) but, i agree, it is a wonderful documentary - i well reccomend it too.
also, talking about pollen books, I was browsing through the bookshop recently and found a book called "pollen: the hidden sexuality of flowers" by rob kesseler & madeline papadakis. there's some great photos of different pollens taken through a electon microscope and then (i guess) photoshopped. it looked stunning but at £35 i had to leave it in the shop.

Thanks Jen for starting this post. Can't recommend highly enough all of David Attenborough's nature books and videos. The video sets are fantastic. His hairdos and narration are superb! Almost as interesting as his subjects! The Private Life of Plants and the Birds series are my faves and difficult to find to purchase except through the BBC which produces them. I'll check for link. I mention purchase only because I've watched them several times and loaned them (with a watchful eye to others who have loved them). I don't own many videos/dvds but these are treasures.
