About SecondLife Victorian

A good part of the century called Victorian, which literally describes things and events in the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), conveyed connotations of "prudish," "repressed," and "old fashioned."

These associations have some basis in fact, but this was moreso a paradoxical age that was a second English Renaissance. Like Elizabethan England, Victorian England saw great expansion of wealth, power, and culture.

For the purposes of this group: It will include Second Life avatars, architecture, technology, scenery and communities that are dedicated to (or even just playing with) the idea of Victorian ideals, fashion and technology. This can loosely include Goth, Victorian, Steampunk and some Old West.
