About Scrophulariaceae Phrymaceae

Images of plants in the Scrophulariaceae (Figwort) Family. This includes: Penstemons, Castilleja, Collinsia, Pedicularis (Louseworts), and many others.

and images of Phrymaceae This includes: Mimulus (Monkey-flowers)

We have adapted the group guidelines from the Wildflower Guide of North America group. If you have images in the pool that are not tagged like this it is ok, but try to correct and add tags if you can as soon as possible.

This is a tag-heavy group - if you're not interested in tagging every photo COMPLETELY, please don't add them to the group and cause work for others who volunteer to tag or delete.

Each flower posted must have the following tags:
___* Scrophulariaceae – this is the group and family
___* Common Name – Of course each species has many local and common names. Please include at least the one you know it by.
___* Binomial Name - Genus species
___* Genus Name separately
___* flower color(s) – Primary color and any variations from this list: purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, red, pink or white. When questionable or in doubt, add all applicable colors.
___* State or Province - Where the flowers was located, such as "North Carolina" or "Northwest Territories" be sure to put multiple word places in quotes.
___* Country - Where the flowers was located, such as Chile or " New Zealand" be sure to put multiple word places in quotes.
This is really important as we would like to know where the images were shot.

Please do not post a flower photo to the group pool and then ask that it be identified. Many of these flowers are difficult to identify from photos alone.

For help identifying plants/flowers try Wildflowers , or the flickr group ID Please . If you've already got a name and want to verify, USDA Plants database .

This group encourages posting a large number of photos of different species at one time (as long as they meet the tagging criteria) - there are no posting limits here! But we're trying to amass a rich variety, so please don't post more than one photo per individual plant unless there is a specific identification character you need to point out. Just pick your best ones to share and post away!

Admin(s) will be strident in the pruning of photos that don't fit the criteria. Thanks for understanding.
