About Scritti Politti
Starting out in the late 70s as a scratchy postpunk band, Scritti Politti evolved in a mainstream 80s synth pop trio with the pointillistic gem Cupid & Psyche 85 as standout album. Provision (88) didn't provide a new turn and main figure Green Gartside disappeared to the Welsh countryside for a prolonged sabbatical. He resurfaced in 1999 as a one man outfit with the hiphop/rock Anomie & Bonhomie, with help of amongst others Mos Def and Meshell Ndegeocello.
A twist in the scritti tale has Green perform life (after 26 years!) as Double G & the Traitorous 3 (http://www.doublegandthetraitorous3.com) in 2006, giving ample opportunity for lots of pictures.
In June 2006 White Bread Black Beer was released in Europe (July in the US). A short UK tour followed in July, and a short trip to Japan to do some festivals. A US tour is scheduled for October, followed by a UK tour in November. And apparently a new album is in the works!
