About SCRAPADEROS

This group is about the trucks that pick up scraps of metal and haul it to the the recycler. Some call these trucks scrappers, trollers, metal trucks, but I call them scrapaderos. There is a renegade, self-made, d.i.y. nature to the existence of these entrepreneurs. They customize their trucks to hold more metal by adding huge side rails; they spray paint their trucks and add juju to their rides. Found in cities and countryside alike, these scrapaderos also populate the entire world. As metals become more of a commodity scrapaderos will become more prevalent. Unless they are taking metal off of buildings or taking manhole covers, they perform a much needed function for our world: taking unwanted metal to be resused instead taken to a landfill. They haul metal with style and ingenuity. Seeming nearly illegal, scrapaderos are on the fringe of what is acceptable by being necessary.
