Why don't you give a call or search about the Stonehaven Pipe Band?? There is a shitload of pictures about them, some including the blond girl. Could be a good clue...

@Szmytke
I've contacted the Aberdeen express, is that the one you mean?
I think the Stonehaven photos are the Stonehaven Fireball at Hogmanay, which is attended by hordes outside the area, but I will follow that up anyway

I'm with a couple of you on them just being spectators at the Hogmanay Fireball event in Stonehaven, the Pipe Band procession starts off the event. I live in the West End of Aberdeen and will ask friends and family who have lived there a lot longer than me if they recognise the street. Who knows, with all the flickr eyes that are on the look out, a happy outcome might just be possible!! Hope so as these look like precious memories!

The pictures in the snow are in and around the new Hockey pitches near queens road and I think the street may be the other side beside the Nargile restaurant on Albyn Place? Looks like those kind of houses or perhaps in the other direction between queens road and the hospital.

Just a thought - Had a look through your found camera images and (found 008) has 2 readable vehicle registration no's. Assuming this pic was taken outside the camera owners home it should be quite easy, with a little help from the friendly Police force we have, to establish which road this is in Aberdeen, knock on a few doors and you will be able to reunite them........Perhaps there's a friendly employee of the police force who is also a flickrer who would be willing to do this.

I'm 99% sure that found 012-014 are of Rubislaw Quarry (Danger sign on fencing, a big clue, New RGU Buildings at Queen's Road in The Background, and the skyline in the extreme background matches the South of the River Dee )
Which means It can be narrowed down to two buildings, Conoco(Rubislaw House)
So it might be worth contacting ConocoPhillips Details Here
Update: Forgot about Chevron House (which shows the last time I was up that way - It hadn't been built yet)Chevron Contact details here
the angles for the background buildings look a better bet from Chevron (and they've got an E-Mail address on their contact so would be an easier one to try first)

The one of the girl standing on the path with the dog (002). That car in the background is a volkswagen golf and is probably the same one in 010, in which there is a partial number plate (SV03). Chances are that is their car as its sitting outside their path. Don't confuse it with the silver seat shown in 004.
Also does anyone know what breed of dog that is.
Also, if you find them get me her phone number. She is very pretty. Unfortunately looks like shes happily married too.

Photo 008 - The snow scenes with the 2 storey houses, I'm 99% sure are Forest Avenue, looking down towards Great Western Road. If the shots with the girl, the dog and the hedges were taken at their front door it would probably put it at a house in the late 20's early 30's on that street.
This link should take you to a bird's eye view of the street.
multimap link
I can't put notes on the image but I'm pretty sure I'm right as the flat roofed building down near the end of the street looks awfully like my best friends house

Excellent call on the street Mr Kael. The colours of the cars and the positioning of the trees in the multimap link even look very close compared to the photos. I'd say its worth a visit.

Mr Kael - this looks like the best lead yet. The map was well found!
Like Sharkey I recognised the Rubislaw Quarry and on Friday drove past it to confirm. Drove around for a wee while, just on the off chance, and at one time was only one street away from Forest Ave....that's just like the thing!
Let's hope the end is nigh...in a good way!

Could you work out some sort of route they took, based on the locations (I recognise places like Eilean Donan Castle and Urquhart Castle around page 33)?
It seems to be a sort of holiday, so perhaps you could identify places they spent certain nights or something?
Not sure what that would achieve though...

I was out all day and drove down the street in number 008,. The early photos ie the ones with the girl holding a dog, I am 99% sure were taken from in front of 61 Forest Avenue, Aberdeen.
The trees in the photo's, the buildings opposite, the traffic signs and lights all match up.

I googled
"61 Forest Avenue", Aberdeen
and found it has an application for replacement windows on Aberdeen City Council's Website.
Planning Apps for 2007 (pdf). Search the document for forest avenue (it's on page 28).
It has the address of the applicant (different address, I'm presuming a landlord) but also the phone number of the council staff member in charge of the application.
Perhaps they can help.
It also has their councillor's name who may be able to help.

I'm willing to try a lot of things but I live hundreds of miles away so I just cannot do that.
Perhaps someone who lives in the area?
Perhaps they could actually drop a note into no 61.
I'm going to try the council as per Stooshie (I had googled the address too but did not get this)
I've spoken to a man at number 3something (who did not recognise the description or know the dog )by looking for Jones' who live in Forest Avenue but you can't find a phone number without a name. I tried more Scottish names too (mac+) but only came up with a phone number for Jones
And then if nothing else I'll write to number 61

Well
I still haven't made contact with the couple but I have spoken to the owner and landlord of 61 Forest Avenue. The description of the couple, including dog, fit the people who rent it from them so they are passing my phone number over to them.
We are going to make it, I'll feel so let down if we've got the wrong house now!

Hello everyone! I'm the guy who lost the camera!!!!!
Irenicdonna, your efforts are truly amazing. I don't know if there are many (or enough) people in the world who would do what you've done. I can't thank you enough.
My wife and I do indeed live in Aberdeen (with our wee dog 'Moe'). The pictures are from trips to Rome and Brussels, my little sister's wedding, and lastly, a hillwalking trip with friends through the Highlands, Isle of Skye, and Glencoe.
We didn't know the camera was lost until it was too late to retrace our steps.
I took a few pictures on the Highlands trip with my cameraphone to geotag (shared on my photostream), but was really disappointed to have lost all of the pictures taken with our point-and-shoot.
I don't share too many pictures, but use Flickr to share photos with my family back in the States. But, I'll keep the pictures that Irenicdonna's posted shared, as well as add some more (I'm headed off on a really interesting trip soon, keep an eye out)!
Many thanks to everyone in the Flickr Community who helped reunite my wife and I with our photos. Thanks again to Irenicdonna, I hope we keep in touch.

This was definitely one of those collaborative efforts that paid off and required the accessibility of the internet to succeed so quickly.
I'm sure Aberdeen City Council didn't envisage their online planning applications database being used for something like this. :-)
However, there's no substute for the the local knowledge and the effort that Mr Kael put in.

Dont bother with the Trumpton Gazette because if they didn't start the story then they wont be interested (for instance so called Wizard special coverage feature, of over 80 pics only 6 are of the bands the rest are all crowd shots)

Im so happy to hear that the owner was able to have his camera returned. GOOD for you for trying so hard to find the owner, you are a very genuine and caring person. I know it can be hard when you lose something especially a camera since it usually has alot of memories and important photos. I use a lost and found service called TrackItBack. They have returned my cell phone to me twice over the past 3 years and its delivered free of charge, WORLDWIDE. I recommend this service to everyone I know and hopefully now it can help some of you. Best Wishes
